Celeb Q and A
You ask the questions!
cbs.soapsindepth.com gives you a chance to ask questions of your favorite stars!

Dear Sean,
Who is your favorite person to work with on the set and why?
Kristina
Dear Kristina,
That’s tough to answer. I don’t have a favorite — I really don’t. I enjoy working with each of the actors for different reasons. Certain actors bring out different things in me as an actor. I couldn’t say I have a favorite.
Dear Sean,
What would you change about Deacon and why?
sarah
Dear sarah,
I don’t think I would change too much about him. I think he’s a guy who’s definitely self-evolving. For me as an actor it’s very exciting to play that, to watch him from when I initially came on the show to where he is now to where he may potentially wind up. So there’s nothing I’d change about him. I think each of the characters have their imperfections and human frailties, and that’s what makes these characters hopefully interesting to watch.
Dear Sean,
What was the toughest acting challenge you have had on the show so far?
Lisa Romano
Dear Lisa,
Probably some of the stuff I initially had to do with Jennifer Finnigan (Bridget) when she found out that I was with Brooke. It required a lot of emotional concentration and tapping into that reservoir of an uncomfortable place that as actors, we’re often asked to go to.
Dear Sean,
What would you do if you were in the same position as Deacon is in right now?
anne-maria van hilst
Dear anne-maria van,
I don’t know. I’d probably have a hell of a lot of stress and anxiety! I don’t know what I would do. I don’t think you could know what you’d do in a situation like that until you’re placed in it.
Dear Sean,
I was just wondering if you’ve always wanted to be an actor or did you just fall into it?
Amanda
Dear Amanda,
I’ve really always wanted to be an actor since I was about 15 or 16 years old.
Dear Sean,
With Adrienne Frantz playing April and Amber on the show, do you think Deacon getting together with April will cause jealousy with Amber and Brooke because of their past with Deacon?
Ariel
Dear Ariel,
I don’t know if it will. I’d like to think it would, but I don’t know. Every time you have an ex-lover, there’s always an undercurrent of attraction that’s still there on some level. To see someone you were once attracted to attracted to somebody else has got to have some kind of a dynamic. So yeah, I think maybe they would get a little bit jealous.
Dear Sean,
I truly enjoy your work — it’s phenomenal. Is there anything or anyone that motivates or inspires you when playing Deacon? What gives you that edge when portraying the character?
Ernie
Dear Ernie,
I like to feel that I get inspired by the writing, the circumstances that we’re asked to portray, and the other actors I’m working with. The character’s just so much fun that it kind of speaks to me. I just kind of intuitively have a gut feeling of what I’m going to do and how I’m going to do it. Usually, I just let that go and see what happens. I kind of make some broad outlines of what I think is going to happen in a scene and then I leave myself open to have other, different things happen.
Dear Sean,
I know you’re from New Castle, PA. I live in Hermitage and work in New Wilmington. I was just wondering if you ever come home to New Castle. How did you ever venture out to California?
Pamela Montgomery
Dear Pamela,
Oh, I have not been home in a couple of years. I think the very first acting job I was ever offered was from Westminster College. It was a part in the play Oliver. I wound up not being able to do it and was really upset about it. We used to go out to dinner all of the time at the Tavern, which is a restaurant in Westminster. I think my father has a store in Hermitage, PA, called King’s Jewelry — I’m not sure. Unfortunately I don’t get home that much because my family travels a lot. My mother’s family is in Los Angeles, so they’re always out here. How did I venture out to California? I actually was going to school in Boston at Boston University and began taking some acting classes, although my major was political science. I met a girl who was from Los Angeles who was graduating college. She said, "Why don’t you come out with me?" I came out with her and we stayed together for a while. That was kind of the catalyst that brought me out to Los Angeles. I finished up at UCLA.
Dear Sean,
In the past, you have worked with many actors on GH, SUNSET BEACH and B&B. I’m curious which actors on any of those shows you would have loved to work with more. In addition, if you could write the ideal storyline for your character, what would it be?
Renee Williams
Dear Renee,
I would have liked to work more with Maurice Bernard (Sonny) and Tony Geary (Luke) when I was on GH. If I could write the ideal storyline for my character, I really think Deacon needs to find out who his mother and father are. I think the reason he is the way he is with women is largely attributable to how he was raised by his mother, so I think it would be interesting to see who his parents are.
Dear Sean,
You are great on B&B. I was just curious — what type of music do you listen to, and do you have a favorite song?
Abby
Dear Abby,
I generally have pretty bad music tastes. I rely upon my girlfriend and my business partner, who used to be head of business affairs for House Of Blues, therefore he always knows the new hot stuff to educate me. So I’m kind of a passive recipient of their musical taste. Do I have a favorite song? I’d probably have to say I really like "Bittersweet Symphony" by the Verve. I think that’s pretty cool.
Dear Sean,
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
Rina
Dear Rina,
I did telemarketing for, like, one day when I first moved to L.A. I had a set script and I was trying to sell masking tape or some b.s. like that. I was horrible at it. It was a ridiculous job. Invariably, every time I’ve had a job like that, I’ve soon after gotten a really good acting job.
Dear Sean,
What has been your toughest challenge as an actor?
Barbara Goode
Dear Barbara,
The pervasive feeling that I’m never going to work again after every job I leave — that it’s my last job, no one will ever want me, and everyone’s going to figure out that I’m a fraud and that I’ve been lucky.
Dear Sean,
Do you think Deacon will use his job as April’s agent to cause more problems for the Forresters?
Melanie Millsaps
Dear Melanie,
No, I don’t think he’ll necessarily do that. I think he realizes that this is a legitimate opportunity. He’s once again found something he can shine in and be good at. I don’t think he’s thinking, "How can I cause problems?"
Dear Sean,
I live in New York and was hoping that your movie, March, would play here but I don’t remember that it did. Is this movie available on video or DVD?
Liz
Dear Liz,
It’s not yet. It’s been sold to foreign distributors. The problem is, our domestic distributor closed up shop, so we’re currently seeking domestic distribution. As soon as something is going on with it, I’ll put it up on my Web site [www.seankanan.com] so that everyone can find out about it.
