Billy & Victoria Are Getting Hitched!
Meet ya'll at the sock hop after the ceremony!
THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS has a 1950s retro wedding planned for Billy and Victoria this fall! Last summer, the pair pledged their love to one another while watching a FATHER KNOWS BEST marathon on television. Now, a Y&R rep confirms, their relationship will come full circle when Elinor Donahue — who played teenage daughter Betty Anderson on the beloved series — makes a cameo appearance as Judge Anderson to officiate at Billy and Victoria's wedding! The scenes were shot on a picket-fence neighborhood on the CBS Studio lot that was once home to MY THREE SONS and LEAVE IT TO BEAVER! But the throwbacks don't stop there: Victoria's wedding dress is inspired by a gown worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1957 classic film Funny Face! Look for Donahue, who played evil Nurse Honeycutt on DAYS OF OUR LIVES in the ’80s — to appear on Wednesday, September 8.
A Very Brady Teacher!
Here's a story of a lovely teacher…
When J.T. and Victoria's son, Reed, returns to pre-school this fall on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, the tyke's teacher will be a very familiar face: Susan Olsen — aka Cindy from THE BRADY BUNCH — will play Mrs. Liza Morton, the school's owner. A spokesperson for Y&R confirms that Olsen will air on Wednesday, September 1, when Reed begins the new school year along with Billy and Chloe's little girl, Delia.
Roberts Checks Into Rehab!
Can Dr. Drew help Roberts kick the pot to the curb?
It seems that THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS isn't the only project that Eric Roberts (Vance) is currently working on: According to an interview his wife, actress and casting director Eliza Roberts did with E! News, the actor has signed on to be a part of VH1's CELEBRITY REHAB WITH DR. DREW in an attempt to kick his addiction to medical marijuana. Roberts has a prescription in order to help him deal with anxiety, "however, a dependency is a dependency and he doesn't want to be dependent on it anymore," explains his wife. How will the actor's time at the Pasadena Recovery Center — he checked in last week to film the VH1 show with Dr. Drew Pinsky — affect his role on Y&R? "We support Eric Roberts in his decision and it does not affect his continuing on Y&R," headwriter and executive producer Maria Arena Bell tells Soaps In Depth. "We are thrilled to have him in this role."
See Pelphrey's Play!
Make a date with Pelphrey and God.
Tom Pelphrey (ex-Mick, AS THE WORLD TURNS; Jonathan, GUIDING LIGHT) is currently starring in the Off-Broadway production In God's Hat. The four-week limited engagement runs through Saturday, August 7, at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater in New York City. This is not only the world premiere of the drama, written by Richard Taylor, but also the debut production of the Apothecary Theatre Company, co-founded by Pelphrey! Tickets are $18 and are available by phone at (212) 279-4200, or by visiting www.ticketcentral.com.
St. John Takes A Break!
St. John joined Y&R in 1991.
Although a setsider tells Soaps In Depth that Kristoff St. John (Neil, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) "got out of his contract" after booking a role in a comedy pilot being produced by the Wayans brothers, the actor himself says that his Genoa City exit isn't exactly imminent. "As of right now, today, I am not leaving Y&R," he posted on his Facebook page. "I love my daytime home and treasure it. I love all you and thank you for your beautiful support." St. John won an Emmy for playing Neil in 2008 — but hasn't had much to do in Genoa City since then. A spokesperson for Y&R reminds that the show does not comment on rumors.
UPDATE: A rep for the actor tells In Depth, "Kristoff St. John will make a very brief departure from daytime to focus on a professional opportunity. As he considers Genoa City home, he looks forward to returning quickly and giving fans much more of Neil Winters."
The Rundown Of Returns
There's no place like home.
This week, AS THE WORLD TURNS' Gwen and Will — played by three-time Emmy winner Jennifer Landon and three-time nominee Jesse Soffer — are visiting Oakdale, along with their adopted daughter Hallie, played by 5-year-old Alexa Kaplan (Sarah, GUIDING LIGHT). But later this month, there are even more familiar faces arriving in town! First, on Monday, July 19, Terri Garber appears as Gwen's mom, Iris. On Wednesday, July 21, the return of Mary Beth Evans's Sierra is a shock to her mother, Lucinda, who then summons he granddaughter Lucy —played by Sarah Glendening — on Thursday, July 22. Finally, Anthony Herrera appears as James Stenbeck on Wednesday, July 28, and Kristina Sisco Romero brings Abigail to town to visit her parents on Friday, July 30.
Lauren's Mom Is Back!
Hayes last visited in 2007.
Soaps In Depth hears that Susan Seaforth Hayes — best known to soap fans as Julie on DAYS OF OUR LIVES — will reprise the role of Joanna Manning, Lauren’s mom, on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS later this summer! Did Joanna know that her late ex-husband, Neil, had fathered Jill? According to our sources, the actress is set to tape her scenes later this month. Y&R doesn’t comment on casting rumors.
Bye, Bye, Bethel!
Bethel originated the role in 2009.
It looks like Jana won't be stuck between two brothers for long! A rep for THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS confirms that Wilson Bethel (Ryder) is out. His last air date is Tuesday, August 3.
New DAYS Ahead For Haiduk!
Haiduk is moving to Salem.
What a week for Stacy Haiduk! First, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS opted not to renew the actress' contract, bumping Patty and Emily's portrayer to recurring status. But DAYS OF OUR LIVES has quickly snatched up the talented star! A spokesperson for NBC confirms that Haiduk is joining the soap's cast as a prison warden. While a character name is not yet available, the rep says that Haiduk "will start airing the beginning of September."
UPDATE: A rep for Y&R confirms that Haiduk's last air date is Friday, August 6.
Go Behind The Scenes!
Park and Co. say goodbye.
Soaps In Depth was on the set when Daytime Emmy winner Michael Park (Jack) and the rest of the AS THE WORLD TURNS gang gathered for their final cast photo earlier this month. Click here to get a glimpse at In Depth's exclusive behind-the-scenes footage!
