Christian Jules LeBlanc (Michael) returns to his roots!
Christian Jules LeBlanc (Michael) is going to be raking in some frequent flier miles when he travels to his native New Orleans, LA, twice this month. First, he’ll be there on Saturday, March 6, at the Jean Bragg Art Gallery (www.jeanbragg.com) for a showing of his art collection. While the actor’s had his work displayed before in Los Angeles and in Washington, D.C., this is the first time his art has received attention like this in his hometown.
LeBlanc won’t just be parting with signed and numbered prints either. His originals will be for sale. “I’m finally at the point where I think I can let go of originals,” he says, acknowledging that some attendees may show up to meet the man who brings Michael Baldwin to life, but that they’ll stay for the art. “The gallery owner in Washington — who’s a friend of Jess Walton’s [Jill] — didn’t even know who I was. When she saw my stuff, she talked to me [like an artist]. Reaction has been very good.”
The actor can’t think of a better time to revisit his roots now that the New Orleans Saints recently won the Super Bowl. “It’s an amazing time,” he raves. “I might just tweak one of my pictures to include a fleur-de-lis [the symbol for the Saints].”
The following weekend, LeBlanc will again return to Louisiana for the 14th Annual Mad Hatters Luncheon, held at the Nicholls State University Ballroom on Sunday, March 14. “I do this every year,” he shares. “Mad Hatters is a nationwide organization, but there are different chapters and they raise a lot of money for charities.” This year, proceeds will benefit a nursing scholarship named in honor of the actor's late mother, Alice LeBlanc, in addition to other local charities.
